Description
The Baby Boomer generation were born in a period of history that arguabley would allow them to achieve more as a group than any previous generation. A period of stability, general world peace, free education, liberal thinking without being over persecuted and individual achievement.
Not all baby boomers achieved greatness, but Brian Murphy is one example of how my generation took the initiative. Some just went along with the ride and achieved small things and what a ride it was.
The period began with the baby boom of the late 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s and was the catalyst for the dramatic changes to society over the next 50 years. Changes to tradition, government focus and laws, societal expectations and rules, war and peace, education, arts, science and culture.
So how did the average baby boomer cope? How did it affect their everyday lives and how did they react to the changes and cope with the stress that change inevitable brings?
Baby Boomer advocate and current editor of the Boomer website www.bonza.com.au (Baby Boomers of NZ and Australia) brings a wealth of experience and research to his life story covering this Boomer period. He is a trained change agent, nothing clandestine like a secret agent, but used by the Queensland Education Department to change the culture of school communities by interacting with all the players involved and informing them about changes to the system. Teachers, students, P&C committees, parents and the school community. He has continued to use these skills since in dealings with government agencies like Centrelink, community groups like Not for Profit organisations, clubs like Probus and the public generally though community presentations, PowerPoint packages, Facebook blogs and the BONZA website.
Brian is an educator and life mentor and is passionate about @my generation’. He has consistently informed and educated hundreds of thousands of Boomers and the big picture that lies ahead of us all as Australia and NZ ages about how it will affect them individually.
This is his life story which in reality will be much the same as many of his fellow Boomers.
